About Me
Hello, and thank you for visiting Marcie Ryan Designs!
I live in a rural part of Montezuma County in Southwest Colorado, located within easy access to high mountains and intriguing desert landscapes. I am a retired Geologist and Archaeologist, and as such, I utilize the palette of Southwest colors that surround me in much of my jewelry.
I started making jewelry in 2010, and have since started concentrating on beaded creations. In 2019, I was introduced to 2-holed Czech glass beads at a local yard sale! I found these to be so versatile in creating a myriad of unique patterns by using the different shapes together, so I bought boxes and boxes of incredible beads, jewelry tools, findings, and jewelry display props. Using YouTube, I learned how to weave these beads onto leather for making wrap bracelets, and the rest is history!
Besides making jewelry, my hobbies include camping, traveling, rock collecting, dog training, and hiking amidst the incredible archaeology sites found in our area. Did you know that Montezuma County has the highest concentrations of sites within the United States? I feel so blessed to live where the landscape feeds my soul, and that makes me happy, inspiring me to be creative.
My family consists of my husband Jerry (who I call my overgrown teenager!), and our little reservation rescue dog, Yahzee.
Thank you so much for supporting my small business, and I look forward to seeing you at some of my local craft show events!
